Also known as
reduction mammaplasty, breast reduction surgery removes excess
breast fat, glandular tissue and skin to achieve a breast size in
proportion with your body and to alleviate the discomfort associated
with overly large breast.
Breast reduction scars can be peri areolar ( around the
nipple only ) or with a short vertical scar with no need for
inverted "T", that is to say, the scars around the areola and a
vertical one only.
The breast reduction operation can be done under local + sedation ,
epidural or general anesthesia within a dayclinic.
The actual operation technique for a breast reduction depends on
your breast size and firmness of your breasts. That's why the
consultation with Dr. Toni Nassar is necessary to evaluate the case
and choose the best technique for you.
Following a breast reduction you will be required to wear a
sports-bra for 3 weeks.
Because the nipple needs to be repositioned, which requires the
cutting of fine nerves, the sensitivity in the nipple might be a
little bit decreased after the operation.
Resumption of normal activity after to days but should avoid sport
for 3 weeks.
A mammogram every two years is desirable.
