Hair transplantation is a surgical technique that involves moving
individual hair follicles from one part of the body (the donor site) to bald or
balding parts (the recipient site).
Whatever the causes, hair loss is a painful experience.
The process of hair transplantation is done under local anesthesia in an
outpatient visit.
There are two hair transplant techniques: by strip or FUE.
Hair transplant by strip:
The surgeon cuts a strip of hair in the donor area located at the crown. After
the removal of implants hair done, the surgeon makes a suture with an absorbable
suture. The thin scar hidden by hair is invisible.
The surgeon's assistants cut the strip under a microscope in many fragments
smaller than or equal to the millimeter. They get follicular units with 1 to 3
hairs.
The surgeon marks the areas to be treated. This drawing serves as a benchmark
throughout the hair transplant procedure.
Using micro-surgical instruments, the practitioner makes small incisions. This
technique allows the implants to bring as much as possible from each other.
Hair transplantation is done in the direction of the original location.
In Brazilian Esthetic Clinics our patient never present any facial swelling
after the surgery which is commom in such procedure and that due to our special
care.
Hair transplant by FUE technique:
FUE(follicular unit extraction ) this micro removal uses tiny punches of between
0.6mm and 1.25mm in diameter. Each follicle is then reinserted back in to the
scalp in the thinning area using a micro blade. Because individual follicles are
removed, only small, punctuate scars remain and any post-surgical pain is
minimized. As no suture removal is required, recovery from FUE is within 7 days.

For both women and men
The vulnerable recipient area must be shielded from the sun, and shampooing is
started two days after the surgery. Shampooing is important to prevent scabs
from occurring around the hair shaft. Scabs adhere to the hair shaft and
increase the risk of losing newly transplanted hair follicles during the first 7
to 10 days post-op.
During the first ten days, virtually all of the transplanted hairs, inevitably
traumatized by their relocation, will fall out ("shock loss"). After two to
three months new hair will begin to grow from the moved follicles. The patient's
hair will grow normally, and continue to thicken through the next six to nine
months. Any subsequent hair loss is likely to be only from untreated areas.
The result of the hair transplant is permanent on the treated area.
