The eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty
designed to rejuvenate, restructure the eye and then the face
and give you more youthful appearance.
Blepharoplasty surgery or eyelid surgery is a procedure to
correct:
• Sagging or drooping eyelids,
• To remove excess fat, skin and atrophied muscle,
• Or even some of the fat that is pocketed around the eye area.
Two variants of eyelid surgery: blepharoplasty of the upper
eyelids and lower eyelid blepharoplasty to remove bags under the
eyes.
Upper eyelid blepharoplasty:
the incision is made at mid-height of the eyelid between the
mobile and the fixed part. Dr Toni Nassar removes any redundant
skin and, if necessary, the protruding fat pads. It ensures that
the proper collection closed eyelids to the eyeball.
Blepharoplasty of lower eyelids:
The incision is 1-2 mm below the eye lashes or trans-conjunctival
route, Dr. Nassar removes the bags under the eyes and then
proceeds to remove skin excess .
Indications for blepharoplasty:
• Excess skin of the upper eyelids and /or lower
• Fall of the eyebrow
• Fat pocket:internal and median of the eye lid, localized or
generalized to the lower eyelid
• Dark circles
• Molar “pocket”
Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery) is usually performed under local
anesthesia.
In some cases, Blepharoplasty surgery or eyelid surgery can be
used to correct vision problems if they are caused by excess
skin blocking the vision or an upper lid that hangs lower than
it should.
In a typical Blepharoplasty surgery or eyelid surgery, our
surgeon marks the passage of the upper eyelid skin to be
removed, keeping the scar hidden in the fold of the eyelid skin.
A portion of the excess skin is removed and is sutured with
plastic surgery techniques.
In lower eyelid surgery in transconjutival route, the pockets of
fat are accessed easily and removed. The excess of skin is
removed by a small incision throughout a line 1 mm from the eye
lashes.
The edema (swelling) of the eyes varies from patient to patient.
There are those (as) whom at the 4 or 5 days are presented with
a very natural appearance. There are others that will achieve
this result after the 8th day. Even so, the first 3 days after
surgery are those in which there is greater "swelling" of the
eyelids.
The use of sunglasses may be helpful at this stage, as well as
the use of cold compresses to reduce the amount of swelling.
There is no need for a work stoppage. It is recommended not to
read or watch television for long time for three days.
For several weeks, the eyes may be drier than usual watery.
This is a natural reaction that will disappear in three weeks.
Make-up is possible on the third day.
In three to six weeks, the scars will become invisible, as
located in the natural crease of the eyelids.
